Best Price Buy Cheap Imagine: Salon Stylist DS Discount Review ShopThis game was purchased for my 10 year old Granddaughter. The game allows her to be a hair and make-up artist. She loves cutting and styling the hair, as well as, picking the perfect make-up for the client. She really enjoys the game and I would definitely recommend it.

Best Price Cheap DualShock 3 Wireless Controller – Red Discount Review Shop

Best Price Buy Cheap DualShock 3 Wireless Controller - Red Discount Review ShopI recently bought another PS3 controller because I was tired of having to stop gaming and wait for my original one (which still works great) to charge. The new DualShock is different from the previous version in several small ways, all of which are improvements. It’s blue (my favorite color) rather than black, it’s slightly heavier due to the rumble feature (which I never use), and has a very slightly textured finish rather than being perfectly smooth.

The PS3 controller and the XBox360 controller both work fine. However, a controller that combines their features would truly be worthy of 5 stars. This is strictly personal preference, but the ideal device would be 80% PS3 controller and 20% 360 controller. Now, let’s look at the various components/features one by one.

Cost: I was surprised to see that the 360 controller is about less. It doesn’t matter since each system only works with its own controller (obviously), but it does make the PS3 product seem overpriced. Advantage: XBox360 (slight).

Looks: Each controller looks good in its own way. I’m not sure why looks should matter to anyone anyway, as long as the thing isn’t horribly ugly. I don’t have my system ‘on display’ (no one else ever sees it) and no one looks at the controller as they’re using it. Advantage: push

Size/weight/feel: They’re very different, but I can’t pick a favorite here. The 360 controller feels the best from a purely tactile sense, at least when I first pick it up. The heft and size makes it feel substantial and the shape fits my hands like a glove. The only (slight) problem is, it tires my hands out just a little over extended gaming sessions. Some of that, admittedly, is the offset analog sticks. The PS3 controller feels fine at all times, just as good after several hours as during the first minute. Advantage: push.

Face buttons: I prefer the flat tops of the PS3 over the more rounded shapes of the 360. Slight difference, though, and almost not worth mentioning. I much prefer the symbols on the PS3 controller to the ABXY on the 360 controller. For some reason, circle-X-square-triangle has been burned into my brain and is now second nature, making quick time events a breeze. I have to think for a split second about ABXY (which can mean death), especially since they are set up almost exactly opposite as on the SNES controller that I grew up using. Advantage: PS3 (moderate).

D-pad: Neither is perfect, but the 360 d-pad is less perfect. Actually, it’s broken. The high collar prevents some presses from registering, which can be incredibly frustrating. I haven’t had the guts to try to sand it down. Besides, the rounded edge of the pad itself sometimes makes it hard to move in one specific direction. The PS3 d-pad is great when used as toggles for grenades, weapons, etc, but makes changing directions quickly and precisely hard when used for movement. This isn’t a big problem since very few games that I play utilize the d-pad in that way and I never play fighting games. Actually, Nintendo does d-pads better than anyone. Advantage: PS3 (pretty big).

Triggers: The 360 triggers are perfect, especially the bottom ones when used in first person shooters. The PS3 bottom triggers aren’t horrible, but they could definitely be improved. Advantage: 360 (pretty big).

Analog sticks: The PS3 analog sticks are perfect, from their side-by-side positions, to their height, to their convex tops, to the material used where they contact the thumbs. I hate the offset nature of the 360 analog sticks and have never been able to get used to it. The concave tops annoy me and the rubber is too hard, which leads to skin irritation over long periods of intense gaming. Advantage: PS3 (huge).

Start/select/main buttons: There isn’t too much difference, but the offset buttons on the PS3 controller work best. With the 360 controller, sometimes I hit one when I meant to hit one of the others. Advantage: PS3 (slight).

Charging: I used to think the 360 controller had an edge because of the removable and rechargable battery pack. I hated having to charge my PS3 controller using the system itself. Now I have an Energizer Power And Play Charging System (by PDP) and couldn’t be happier. Advantage: push.

Bottom line: The perfect video game controller for me would be this one… if it had better triggers and an improved d-pad. It could also be cheaper. All in all, though, at this point in gaming history, the DualShock 3 is as good as it gets.

Best Price Cheap XBOX360 LIVE HEADSET MICROPHONE HeadPhone FOR XBOX 360 Discount Review Shop

Best Price Buy Cheap XBOX360 LIVE HEADSET MICROPHONE HeadPhone FOR XBOX 360 Discount Review ShopReally nice upgrade to the standard 360 headset. Comfortable and good sound. The only downfall is that if you are playing a game like C.O.D. it is harder to hear footsteps on the T.V. because you have both ears covered. Great for team communication though.

Best Price Cheap Ratchet & Clank Up Your Arsenal Discount Review Shop

Best Price Buy Cheap Ratchet & Clank Up Your Arsenal Discount Review ShopThis was the first Ratchet and Clank game I played, and I loved it. The graphics are pretty good, and the characters and dialogue is amazing. There were actually some pretty funny jokes in the game.

Some people will say that there are bad words in this game. The worst word is the a-word, and you have to turn of the music to hear it because its not even in a video – its in the gameplay when a robot says it. Also, Klunk does say ‘What a load of bull…’ during Qwarks memorial service or whatever, but ratchet stops him from saying it. Anything else is censored.

Qwark is made a main character in the game, and it turns out pretty well. I would give this game an 8.5/10 because some of the parts are difficult and it gets a bit boring after you play it like 7 times.

Best Price Cheap Gothic 3 Collector’s Edition Discount Review Shop

Best Price Buy Cheap Gothic 3 Collector's Edition Discount Review ShopIf you call yourself a Gothic 1/2 fan, you MUST play Gothic 3. It is one of the best RPGs ever made, right up there with the previous Gothics. I know there were issues at launch, including game stopping bugs, stuttering, and horrible performance.

But fast forward 3 years and the game is now very playable. The community has done an amazing job. The latest community patch is 1.73 (as of Oct 2009), and all bugs have been fixed. While performance hasn’t really been optimized, hardware power has increased since 2006. So if you have a cheap Radeon 4850 or better (+ plenty of RAM) performance will be smooth. There is some stuttering for the first few minutes after you load a save, but it completely disappears after a while. The latest patch (also called Enhanced Edition) adds Alternative AI and Alternative Balancing. These features are extremely welcome and considerably improve the gaming experience (for example, there is no more “stunlock”).

The game itself is engrossing. This is a pure Gothic game and plays in the same manner as the previous titles. There is a lot of focus on the dialogue, and quests are interesting. The game makes you feel like you’re really there, eating and sleeping in Myrtana. Like in the previous games, skills are increased by using in-game items/people (trainers, praying, reading books, doing quests) and not by assigning skill points in a chart (as is the case with D&D cRPGs). The story is detailed and interesting, and there is a lot of spoken dialogue with the townsfolk.

If there was one word to describe this game, it would be EPIC. It’s very long, and you can easily waste over a hundred hours just by completing the main quests. And if you are willing to explore the huge world on your own, you can easily add more to that number. Graphics are also beautiful, though I don’t usually care about graphics as long as the gameplay is good. Still, it’s the cherry on top.

(One gameplay tip: do NOT liberate towns in Myrtana and Varant until you are finished doing quests on all of them. Liberating them will cause all other towns to become hostile and you will lose all the awesome quests that would have otherwise been offered. So don’t liberate until the very end of the game.)

If you ignored this game due to launch issues, now is time to play it. Thanks to all the community patches (the latest one is about 1Gb in size, and even removes copy protection), this game is now one of the best ever made. Now do yourself a favor and get gaming. :)
